In a few days we will be celebrating the 4th of July. As you all know, it's the day that America was proclaimed free. America won it's independence and it was a huge victory. To this day, we still remember and celebrate what happened on the 4th of July.
As the same with the freedom America won, so it must the freedom we also won through Christ Jesus. Born and created into the slavery of sin, we had no freedom. Our bondage was to the sins of our flesh. Living in this world we are taught at an early age to give in to the desires of our sinful nature, the desires of our flesh, and the desires to disprove of a living God.
Those who still live in the bondage, we see STD's in the young as early as in the early teens. We see men greedy oppressing the poor through their own justice bought by power and money. These are just two examples of the chains of sin. In sin come death.
For those few of us, we are freed from the law of sin and death not by our own doing, not by our own understanding and determination but are freed by the blood of Christ. For those that has released their will to Christ and believe in him was given a greater gift, the freedom from the laws of sin and death.
Todays devotion comes from:
because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
